Michigan Communities In Schools (MCIS) has 7 community affiliates serving 255 schools sites with 89,558 students enrolled, with a state office located in Holland Mi. CIS is the Nation’s largest dropout organization, whose MISSION is to champion the connection of needed community resources with schools to help young people successfully learn, stay in school, and prepare for life. The CIS community owned collaborative is REPLICABLE, EFFECTIVE, and SUSTAINABLE. CIS repositions community resources into the schools to provide students with 1) a personal one on one relationship with a caring adult 2) a safe place to learn and grow 3) a healthy start and a healthy future 4) a marketable skill to use upon graduation, and 5) a chance to give back to peers and the community.
