We are All In This Together: Communities Sharing the Vision for High School Graduation For All Students
Thank You to Everyone Who Made the Michigan Summit a Huge Success!
Over 500 people, representing a variety of sectors and interests, and making up more than 20 community teams from around the state, gathered in Lansing on October 20th to learn from others and share their own expertise in and concern about the educational success of Michigan youth.
The Summit proceedings, including all presentations, materials and links, are being added to the Summit Proceedings section of the site. We are getting things posted as quickly as we can.
If you were not able to attend, but would still like to keep connected to Summit conversations, let Michele Corey know at corey.michele@michiganschildren.org or 517/485-3500. The Summit is just the first step of many exciting opportunties in Michigan to work together on behalf of our young people. We can connect you with others in your community who attended the Summit, and can connect you to post-Summit training and networking opportunities available in the coming months through the Michigan Shared Youth Vision Partnership, Michigan's Children, and other Summit partners.
Thanks for all of your hard work on behalf of Michigan youth!
Moving the Summit Work Forward
We are fortunate in Michigan to have an infrastructure of support for moving forward the work of communities at the Summit. The Michigan Shared Youth Vision Partnership, staffed through our Department of Labor and Economic Growth is re-convening the three post-summit work committees:
-
Networking and Communications
-
Resources and Technical Assistance
-
Policy Change
This post-Summit work continues to be supported by State Farm and by the C.S. Mott Foundation, in addition to the resources and commitment of the Summit Partners. America's Promise, the Forum for Youth Investment, the National League of Cities, the National Youth Employment Coalition, and other national partners are also providing technical assistance and support to Summit communities.
Look for consistent e-mail communication from the Partnership in 2009.
